August 9th, 1990- February 26th, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of Dylan Bernard Whiteway announce his passing on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025 at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s, NL, surrounded by family.
Dylan was born to George and Louise Whiteway on August 9th, 1990 in St. Anthony. He lived in Grandois until his graduation in 2008, at which time the family moved out of the small community. As anyone who knows Dylan knows, he may have been living far away but his heart was always home in Grandois.
Dylan was a man of many talents. Any instrument he picked up he mastered. Music was a large part of his life; forming a band (Nasty Weather) with childhood friends Mitchell, Josh and Joey, and travelling the Northern Peninsula playing gigs during his high school years.
Dylan moved to Labrador City in 2010, getting a job with IOC and working as a Journeyman Millwright for 15 years while raising his young family. Dylan loved riding skidoo; especially when his son Reed was born and developed the same affinity for the outdoors.
Dylan was a family man, his pride and joy were his children. As Emilia would say “Dad you know you’re my best friend in the whole world?” to which Dylan would say “and you’re my favourite little girl in the whole world”.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses, doctors and all ICU staff at the Health Science Centre, as well as the staff of the Labrador West Health Centre, for their excellent care during Dylan’s stay. They went above and beyond.
Leaving to mourn; children Reed and Emilia. Parents George and Louise. Sisters Tara (Trevor) and Cheyenne (Alexander). Brother Dale (Ashley). Special cousin Travis (Chelsea). Nephews Rylan and Jake. Nieces Hailey and Kendra. Grandmothers Laura Whiteway and Josephine Jones. Along with a large circle of family and close friends who became family. Dylan was so loved by so many people who will spend forever missing him.
Pre-deceased by grandfathers Ignatius Whiteway and Bernard Jones; and cousin Andy Whiteway.
Viewing to be held Tuesday, March 4th, 2025 at Kerry M Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony from 2 PM-4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM. A family service will be held Wednesday, March 5th at 7 PM at St. William’s church in Grandois, followed by a funeral service Thursday, March 6th at 2 PM. All who know and love Dylan are welcome to attend.
If our love could have saved you Dylan, you would have lived forever.
