Leaton Adolphus Simms May 05 1941 - February 26, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leaton Adolphus Simms announced his passing on Wednesday February 26th 2025 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Athony NL.
Leat was born to George and Flossie Simms on May 05-1941 in Main Brook, NL.
He started out at a young age with various jobs in St Anthony . He eventually moved to Goose Bay and settled with his family . Later in life he spent some time in Calgary. Leats career was mainly in construction and building supplies.
Leat was a very outgoing and adventurous man who loved to travel , explore and just be free . You would often see him coming in a Motor Home or a truck camper and he would go wherever the road would take him. Leat often helped others with projects such as constructing a building, fixing a roof or plumbing . He had a love for fixing old vehicles and picking them apart.
The last 5 years of his life he spent at Shirleys Haven Personal Care Home in St Anthony. Leat made many friends there and enjoyed their company. He loved to attend all the activities , listening to music and enjoying the laughter of friends .
Leat was predeceased by his parents George and Flossie Simms. Sister Ruby Elliott; Sister in law Glenys Simms ; Brother in law Compton Bird; Nephews Frankie Elliott; Scott Cavallaro ; Great niece Kelly Wiseman.
He leaves to mourn Children ; Joey ; Cora ; LeeAnne
Brothers : Ren, Ed ( Judy ) Wade ( Nina ) Wayne ( Carla ) Scott , Tony ( Shelley ) Sisters Stella ; Alma ( Frank ) Judy , Joan , Geri ( Doug ) Jean ( Lloyd ) also a large circle of nieces and nephews.
As per Leats last request , cremation has already taken place and a celebration of life will be at a later date. Details will be shared by family early summer .
The family would like to thank the ICU staff at CMH St. Anthony NL. Also to the staff at Shirleys Haven Personal Care Home , you were very special to him and he spoke very highly of you all. We appreciate all you’ve done for him..
