With his family close beside him, Andrew Arthur Colbourne, 79, of St. Anthony, NL, passed peacefully away on February 26, 2025 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL.
The sixth of eight children, Andrew was born on November 16, 1945 to Samuel and Hester Colbourne. After courting for three years, he married the love of his life Juanita on October 10, 1967. Together they had and raised four children: Angela, Carmen, Travis and Carla.
Andrew loved the outdoors - fishing, hunting, gathering fire wood, berry picking and tending to the vegetable gardens. His pleasure in these activities was enhanced when shared with members of his family. Andrew spent his life as a fisherman, first with his older brother George in Labrador and then over the years he was employed on many types of vessels, in various positions and with numerous crews. He was a faithful member of his church. He enjoyed all aspects of his church life, especially singing favourite hymns and choruses. Andrew easily made friends with those he came in contact with, enjoyed chatting, and sharing his knowledge and experiences.
Andrew leaves to mourn: his wife Juanita of 57 years; four children - Angela (Harvey), Carmen (Winston), Travis (Lisa) and Carla (Maurice); grandchildren - Bradley (Heather), Scott, Jordan (Jessica), Rebecca, Eric, Patrick, Jessie, Jayda-Marie, Lily, Maggie and great grandchildren- Liam, Logan, Allie; siblings Julie, Marie (Woodrow), Donald (Brenda); in laws - Hazel, Leah (Rex), Ruth (Donald), Charles (Elizabeth), Sue, Fern (Sterling), Donald (Angela), Phyllis (Tim), Angela (Wade) as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all those he considered friends and his neighbours on the point.
Andrew is predeceased by his parents, siblings - George, Edward, Ethel and Jane, and in-laws - Linda and Ross.
Andrew’s celebration of life will be held at the Bethel Pentecostal Church, St. Anthony, NL on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at 2 pm. Burial will follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Bethel Pentecostal Church From 7-9 on Friday February 28th and 2-4pm and 7-8 pm on March 2nd with the family service from 8-9pm.
