BILES, MAISIE JOY

June 20, 1958 - March 17, 2024

Joy passed peacefully at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in the early morning of Sunday March 17th 2024, at the age of 65.

She was born on June 20th 1958 to Sidney and Rita (Earle) Hussey of St. Lunaire-Griquet, NL.

Joy was such a incredible person who was known to be quite the character. She had a contagious smile no matter what battles she was facing. She suffered many years from multiple illnesses which led her to be the definition of strength. She had the biggest heart and showed tremendous amounts of love and support to those she loved most.

Left behind to mourn with loving memories is her beloved Husband: Albert Biles; Mother: Rita (Eric); Children: Brian Biles (Melanie), Byron Biles (Amanda); Grandchildren: Makayla Bussey (Anthony), Alisha Bussey (Taylon), Jaidyn Bussey, Tristen Biles, Braden Biles, Stephanie Biles; Great Grandchildren: Tyler, Tony and Timothy Bussey; Sisters: Pansy Diamond (Clyde), Verna Hussey (Rod), Blanche Pilgrim (Allan), Ann Hussey (Terry), Lillian Randell (Austin), Wanda Lynn Pilgrim (Winston), Ruby Hilliard, Michelle Hussey (Brad), and Tanya Tucker (Danny); Brothers: Roy (Lucy) and Bruce; along with 11 Nieces, 10 Nephews as well as numerous Great Nieces and Great Nephews. Joy will be greatly missed by ALL her family and friends!

Grief is the price we pay for love.

She is pre-deceased by her sister Ann Hussey, father Sidney Hussey, brothers Antoine and David.

Visitation details to be announced. The funeral service will be held from the Salvation Army Citadel in St. Anthony on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 2:00 pm with Major Lillian Randell officiating. Interment to follow in the Griquet United Cemetery.

BILES, LEWIS JACOB

Lewis was born in St. Anthony to Harrison and Emily Jane (Fowler) Biles on October 10, 1928.  On May 11, 1950 he married Rosie Patey of Raleigh and they made their life in St. Anthony on ‘’Biles Point”.  They raised their four children here.  Lewis worked for 40 years with Fishery Products retiring in 1992.  In 1994 he lost his wife Rosie to cancer and then began his life with daughter Loretta and son-in-law Heber, supported by all his loving family Lewis passed peacefully away on November 7, surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his children Loretta (Heber), Albert (Joy), Terence (Becky) and Ruby (Frank). Also his grandchildren Brian, Byron, Sheldon, Terry, Andy, Stacey and Amanda, as well as 12 great grandchildren and I great great grandchild He also leaves to mourn his brothers Walter Biles (Ethel), Norman Bessey (Marilyn), Edward Bessey, and sister Dorothy Mitchelmore and sister-in law Irene (Reginald), and brother-in-law Graham Richards (Marie) as well as many well-loved nieces and nephews. Lewis was a faithful member of this church and a charter member of the AOTS Men’s Group.  He will always be remembered as a man who loved his family, was a loyal friend and had a wonderful sense of humour. He was predeceased by his wife Rosie, his parents Harrison and Emily Jane Biles, his brother Thomas (Eliza) and his sister Bertha (Victor) as well as a special uncle and aunt Lewis and Grace Biles. He will be sadly missed. Visitation took place from Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral on Friday, November 10th, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. BILES, MAXWELL

Passed peacefully away after a short illness at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on September 11th, 2015, Maxwell Henry Biles of St. Anthony, NL in his 90th year. Max was a fisherman and carpenter before his retirement. He was a member of the choir at St. Anthony United Church for 50 years, a member of the church’s board of session and a long-time member of the Loyal Orange Lodge.
Max loved his family and his church, building model boats, hunting, salmon fishing, picking berries, playing cards, reading; watching boxing, hockey and wrestling.
Max leaves to mourn his four daughters; Joan Rumbolt, Eileen Reeves, Celeste Thompson-Vey (Bruce Vey) and Maxine Earle (Junior). Grandchildren; Curtis Rumbolt, Annette Rumbolt, Paulette (Allister) Russell, Jeanette Dwight) Russell, Paul (Brenda) Reeves, Terry (Sherry) Reeves, Rodney (Susan) Thompson, Colin (Melissa) Thompson, Denise (Robin) Collier, Jennifer Earle and Justin Earle. Great-Grandchildren; Marijke den Otter-Rumbolt, Terri (Allan) Healey, Kimberly Russell, Kelly Russell, Kassidy Russell, McKenzie Russell, Marc Russell, Julie (Terry) Wolfe, Jamie Reeves, Victoria Thompson, Miranda Thompson, Gabriel Thompson, Orianna Thompson, Reece Thompson, Christins Collier, Mya Collier and Teyla Collier. Great-great-grandchildren; Ava Rumbolt, Jayce Wolfe and Ethan Wolfe. Brother in law Wilfred Boyd, sisters in law Lizzie Boyd and Flora Dean. Visitation was held at the St. Anthony United Church from where the funeral Service was held at 2:00pm on September 15th, 2015 with Rev. Dinesh Gomes officiating. Burial followed in the United Cemetery in St. Anthony. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hilda Biles announce her passing at the John M. Gray Center on the 20th day of September 2013. Mrs. Hilda BIles of St. Anthony was in her 87th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons Bernie Biles (Beryl), Garry Biles (Wavey)in Vancouver; Dannie Biles (Alice) in Barrie; and Daughter Wanda Reardon in Brampton, seven grandchildren she was so proud of Shawn(Vicky), Tammie Frelich-Biles, Vanessa, Karen Keats(Dave), Ashley, Latisha, Cheryl, Khristopher Reardon, Adam Hepburn, ten great grandchildren, sisters Muriel Patey, Rosalind Pilgrim, Pansy Payne (Brett), Brothers Boyce(Lorna), Don (Sherrie), Carl(Margaret), as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Wesley, Father Henry Cull, Mother Hurslett. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home in St. Anthony on Sept 21 – Sept 22, 2013 followed by the funeral service which took place at 2:00pm on the 23rd of September 2013 at the United Church in St. Anthony with Rev. Stephanie McClellan officiating. Interment followed at the fishing point united cemetery. She will be missed in the community of St. Anthony for her community services throughout the years.
